| Cambodia Land RIghts Struggle needs your Solidarity

Greetings!
As you may already be aware, in Cambodia, the land grabbing and land alienation cases, going stronger by the day. Such cases have been going on especialy pertaining to indinegenous peoples and other farming communities (eg in Ratnakiri) Such land grabs to corporates and agribusiness are often backed by the state and corrupted judicial system with no accountability.
Farmers and Indigenous peoples have been raising these issuesfor long, and this year again at human rights day the a dozen communities on Tonle Bassac made a show of defiance to reclaim their land rights, through the TOnle Bassac Declaration The UN HR commissioners special envoy to cambodia, the kenyan yash ghai, who raised this issue was rapped by the defensive government and later by Hun sen himself.
In enclosing coverage on the issue, in case you have not already seen this (pls also see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7135827.stm ) Since many among you work on land rights and food sovereinity issues, thought it may be of interest to you to raise these issues through your movement/ organisational forums, Communities and peoples organisations in Cambodia have been struggling and articulating these, however their spaces for action are also limited in Cambodia. Solidarity to cambodian farmers struggle, particularly from large platfroms like Via, FSPI, VUFO, ANPFA, APVVU, PLP, CSRC, MST, KLA, THai groups would i think be particularly important to strengthen the struggle and challenge the system perpetuating rights abuses.
I would be great if some of the land rights struggles could come together and bring common statements and messages in the media, and for cambodian friends over to you.
